Any update on how soon this feature will be added? My list of parent emails is getting quite long and now I'm afraid I might be adding back people that have removed themselves and I don't realize it.

  • Hi Dana,

Thanks for your post! We've raised the priority on this and now plan to get something available to you in our next release which will be within a couple of weeks. We'll post something here to let everyone know the details.

Also, when parents opt-out, they're opting out of receiving emails, but remain members of your community. (Only an Administrator can remove members ... members can't remove themselves.) If you add someone who opted-out earlier and add them with the same email address , you'd get an error message that this user with that email address is already a member of your group.

Hope this helps and stay tuned! :)

  • when someone uses the opt-out function, does your service automatically stop sending emails to them, even though they are still visible in the database?

Second question - if I "delete" someone from my email group, apparently it doesn't delete them from the database - if I use the same email address on a new record, the system won't let me create a duplicate record, which is fine, but I have no idea how to retrieve the "deleted" member to opt them back into the system
    thanks.

  • Hi Lorne,

Yes, we will automatically stop sending emails. We have to handle opts out very briskly in order to keep in compliance with anti-spam laws.

You are correct we do keep the member's record and their status. We need to make sure very specific steps are taken in order to opt them back for the same reason as above. You should be able to add them and then click on them from your membership page. Once you click on the name you will see two buttons. Click on "View/edit profile".

This will open a new menu for the members. Click on the "email preferences" button on the left and will see a checkbox to opt them back in.

Of course you are welcome to send us a list of members that you want opted back in and we can change it for you.

  • I would like to delete all the members that have opted out to have a more accurate total in my database. Is there a way to do this at one time?

    Thank you.

  • Hi Tanya,

If you have a few members who have opted-out, you can remove them one by one, but since you have quite a few, it's good you asked about an easier way!

You can export your membership and sort the spreadsheet by the column "delivery:optedOut" (column Q). Then follow the instruction in this question to delete these members that have an "x" in this column using an upload file.

Let me know if you'd like me to take of that for you!

    Hope this helps!

    Best,
    Robin

  • Thank you! And, my next question is... I am not Tanya, she does not manage this project any longer. How do I change her information? :)

  • Hi,

You change this by clicking on your name in the member list. This will bring up a menu that looks like this:

Click on View/Edit profile and it will bring up a menu where you can change your personal information.

Please let us know if you have any problems.

  • Hi Everyone,

To see who has unsubscribed, or opted-out, of your emails:

    1. Click Manage membership, lists & permissions on your home page.

    2. Click the Email delivery data tab. Under Members who have ‘Opted-Out’ will be a list of members and their email addresses.

To opt members back in to receiving your emails, click the user’s name or email address to view their profile. Scroll down and click the checkbox Opt-in to receive group emails for your community and click Save. If the member has already set up their password, then either they’ll need to sign in to their account and opt themselves back in or they can contact us at support@groupvine.com to opt them in.

You can also go directly to a user’s profile from the Manage members listing to opt a member in (or out).

Hope this helps! Thank you for your patience!
